Crazy Schedules = Crazy Workouts

That's right!  I know and have heard it all for the past month about schedules being packed and no time for workouts.  That is just ridiculous! No time for workouts?? Skipping your workout is NOT the right way to go.  There are repercussions such as laziness, weight gain, low energy.  Why would you want to put yourself through that on top of all the holiday stress?

Here is the solution.  You don't need to workout an hour each day.  I mean yes, it would be nice if you could, but with time being so valuable it can be tough.  My solution?  Circuit training!  That's right, circuits are a GREAT way to get an intense workout into a small space of time.  Here are a couple examples:

1. Love to run?

Warm up for about 10 mins with a walk or other dynamic warm up.  Then for 20 minutes, do as many rounds as you can of….. sprint 1 block (on the treadmill you can do a 1/10 of a mile), 10 push ups, 10 burpees.  Try to get in as many rounds as possible and rest as needed.  The key is to time your rest breaks to push yourself.

2. Home workout?

Warm up with jumping jacks or jumping rope for a few minutes.  Then do 4 rounds of….30 bodyweight squats, 20 situps, 10 push ups with a rotation.  Try to complete in as little time as possible.

3. At the Gym?

With access to more equipment, obviously this is ideal and more versatile.  Here's a good one I like, especially if you want more of a lifting circuit.  Be sure to warm up with some light weight squats, presses, deadlifts, etc..  THEN, do 3rounds as quick as possible, of….. (Set bar weight to about 50% of max weight.  remember, this can be modified with different lifts as needed) 10 deadlifts, 10 cleans, 10 front squats, 10 presses(push press or jerks are ok as well) Rest as needed.

So with these few examples and SO many more, how can you say you don't have time??  Workouts are made to fit into your daily life, not the other way around, BUT if you completely cut them out of your schedule then you are setting yourself up for failure in other aspects.  Remember the consequences of not working out, are they worth it?
