Have you ever tried to do something and every time you do it, your body seems to lock up?  It's like you tighten up in fear and cannot do it!  Yeah, well today I felt that fear while trying to do a weighted box jump.  It's not like I haven't done one with 20lb dumbells before, but I just had an attack of some sort.  I've had clients who have had this problem and I feel their pain, "all in the mind" I tell them.  So how does one overcome the fear?  For those of you who have done it before then all I can say is JUMP!  For newbies, it can be a little more delicate. 

You want to ease into the height, start on a couple of 45lb plates.  Upgrade to 3, 4, a small box, and so on.  Before you know it you're jumping on a 24" box with 20lb dumbells in your hand.  Sounds easy, right?  Well, remember that when you hit the point of mental freeze….it will get you through the fear.
